Perplexing Poultry — intriguing mathematical tiling
Limited edition! Only 1 set left...

This whimsical set of chicken-shaped tiles has two forms, transmogrified from the classic "kites" and "darts" found by Sir Roger Penrose to be the fewest number of different shapes to tile the plane nonperiodically. Roger held the world record for fewest shapes for many years, until 2023, when a team of four mathematicians, headed by David Smith, found a single shape, the OneSTone, also called "Spectre". Here is the shape of the "one stone":

This "Perplexing Poultry" set is trickier than the simple, straight pieces. We sold them for many years, until the supply ran out. The standard kites and darts still exist, and we will continue to make them and the oneSTone sets always. Only the poultry has been retired, and once this last set is sold, there will be no more. This last set, of 65 pieces, is offered in a handsome wooden tray to allow lots of experiments and decorative patterns. You can even display your set as a work of art. It comes with a special workbook by Martin Gardner. $125
