The figure at right shows the solution for the pattern at left. The tiles consist of all the shapes of one, two or three diamonds that can be overlaid on a tiling of hexagons that look like cubes. The 3 colors are added so that one color is always the left side of a cube, another color always the right face, and the third color the top. Fitting the tiles together can create the optical illusion of a field or pile of blocks. The particular challenge is to find attractive symmetrical arrangements that make patterns of complete cubes only. Have fun solving the patterns in the book, then see how many others you can create.
