In August 2019, Dick and Kate attended the Bridges conference in Austria, then took a few days in the Bavarian
Alps, climbing or taking cograils and cablecars to the top of Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze. Here's a
view from the top, a celebration of human ingenuity and skill in building the world's longest expanse of cable
that still lifts a small roomful of people in a single ride. Engineers are the heroes of civilization.
