Monreale Pony is an illustration from a series I created entitled Sicilian Memories as Photomontages. The book is composed of a series of photomontages which illustrate a trip I took with my husband to Sicily in May 2000.

The choice of photomontage is intended to reflect the way people remember experiences from their past. Images from each of the towns and cities visited are used — often in combinations that are of artistic interest or emotional significance to the artist. Special effects, such as filters, layer modes and various transparencies, are used to portray the dream-like quality of memories.

Monreale Pony was inspired by a pony that was seen dressed in old-world traditional costume in the small cathedral town of Monreale. The border design is created in a semi-tranparent state, with the mosaics from the town's famous Duomo (cathedral). 10x15", Photoshop.
